The powerful and elegant Coonan MOT 10 M1911 style semi-automatic pistol was introduced in 2017. As the gun’s “10” in the name implies, this is a 10 mm gun. It comes in two finishes: Satin and the even more durable IonBond (black).

On the Satin model, pretty much everything is satin except the two sights, hammer and grip panels. The IonBond model looks black except in a few places such as the muzzle, ejection port, extractor, trigger and several flat head screws for the grip panels.

The gun features three white dot sights. The smoothed back rear sight is adjustable for windage. Other sight options include fixed front and back black sights, fixed front and back white dot sights and adjustable or fixed night sights.

The slide integrates beautifully with the frame with lovely fit and finish. The rear has diagonal serrations but the front is smooth. The hammer is nicely designed with horizontal serrations and just below that, the back has a grip safety that ends in a medium beavertail.

The standard grip panels are diamond patterned and run vertically up the grip to just below the slide. Other add on grips are also available. Also on the grip, the mainspring housing can be ordered in either textured or smooth designs.

The slide catch and thumb safety are nicely beveled and from various angles, flow organically into one another and the beavertail, all connected visually by the lines of the slide and frame.

Coonan MOT 10s have a light breaking Browning type pivoting trigger that’s drilled with a trio of circles that parallel the trigger’s crescent. The trigger guard has no serrations and no undercut but forms a smooth curved parallelogram with the frame.

Coonan MOT 10s come with one or two magazines. These magazines fit beautifully flush up in the magwell.
